Razorbacks add Galaxy star Benetka to roster
veröffentlicht am 03.Sep.2003 @ 11:49:50 von MEB

German Football League DT Daniel Benetka ©mebThe Rhein Main Razorbacks will add another Frankfurt Galaxy and NFL-Europe star to their line-up for their final regular season game in Stuttgart and through the 2003 playoffs. Daniel Benetka who was just released in the final roster cut by the Kansas City Chiefs will join the Razorbacks with hopes of bolstering the Hogs defense in preparation for their last regular season game and playoff run.

"We are extremely excited to get a player of Benetka´s quality as a member of our team. I think it shows the level of commitment that our management has to the success of the 2003 Razorbacks. " stated Razorbacks Head Football Coach Mike Wyatt.

The Razorbacks wrapped up the GFL South Conference title last week with their win over the Franken Knights and will end their regular season play in Stuttgart´s Waldau Stadion in a 18:00 game on Saturday. They will host either Berlin of Dresden on the weekend of September 20 in Rüsselsheim in the GFL quarterfinals with the ultimate goal of arriving in the German Bowl in Wolfsburg´s Volkswagen Arena on October 11.

"We have had Benetka signed to a player´s pass since before the end of June, but were unsure of his status until he was released by the Kansas City Chiefs. We have worked on having him on our roster for the past two years and it finally has come to fruition. We couldn't be happier. " added Wyatt.

During the past three seasons, Benetka has been a member of the Frankfurt Galaxy and is a local fan favorite among the national players. He attended the University of Idaho in the USA and was a free agent signee of the San Francisco 49ers out of college. Aside from spending this pre-season training camp with the Kansas City Chiefs, Benetka also spent time in camp in the past two seasons with the Indianapolis Colts and New England Patriots, respectively.
